Community Task Force (CTF) is a new government scheme, run through Job Centre plus offices and in conjunction, locally, with Prospects, who are one of the UK’s largest and leading providers of careers, education, advice, guidance and training services. For clients who have received Job Seekers Allowance for 6 months, there is a requirement for all 18-24 year olds to start on the 13 week course as from the 26th April 2010.
The course is made up of 5 hours job search per week, arranged with TTS-Community Task Force development workers on a Monday and Friday and initially 25 hours work per week as a volunteer. This work has to be classified as community based, benefitting the community and whoever is involved.
From week 7, the clients must also complete 5 hours work per week in a commercial placement, i.e. a business making profit. Each individual on Community Task Force will receive an extra £15.38 as a top up to their JSA per week.
The Community Task Force venues within the TTS Group for South Devon are Torquay, Brixham and Newton Abbot with a possibility of extending this to offices in Totnes in the near future. The TTS Group, which is based in North Devon, also delivers CTF on behalf of Prospects in Barnstaple, Bideford, Bude and Tiverton.
The TTS Group are already delivering Prince’s Trust Team Programmes and Young Parenting Programmes in South Devon and have over 20 years experience in working with young people on personal development, educational needs and training requirements across Devon and Cornwall.
